10 Big-Picture Home Remodeling Trends in 2025

When updating a home, it can be helpful to separate “must haves” from “nice to haves” to set priorities. Looking at what other homeowners find most important can help you strategize better. For a glimpse at the renovation projects, products and professionals popular now, check out these highlights from the recently released 2025 U.S. Houzz & Home Study.

1. Guest Bathrooms Catch Up to Kitchens in Popularity

Kitchen projects historically have been the most popular type of renovation project. But in 2024, the same share of renovating homeowners (24%) remodeled a guest bathroom as remodeled the kitchen, marking a notable shift. Additionally, an equal share of homeowners built an addition to the kitchen as built an addition to the bathroom (2% each) to accommodate upgrades. About a fifth of renovating homeowners remodeled a primary bathroom (22%). About the same share tackled a living room remodel (18%). Following in popularity were remodels of a guest bedroom, closet, laundry room and primary bedroom, all at 13% to 14%.
