5 Outdoor Living Trends to Watch in 2026

While the Maison & Objet design fair in Paris typically signals the direction of the interiors world, this year’s January installment also highlighted the growing importance of the outdoors. As our homes become year-round hubs for entertaining, al fresco spaces now need as much design attention as our interiors, serving as sociable and welcoming extensions of the home.

Despite the cool temperatures outside the halls, the show’s Outdoor Universe featured 50 international brands showcasing the hottest looks in everything from furniture and lighting to materials and accessories. These are the key trends that caught our attention. 

1. Rusty Hues

A warm palette of oranges, reds, terra cottas and ambers dominated this edition of Maison & Objet, reflecting the favored color schemes for interiors. This warmth paired naturally with another key trend: powder-coated metal outdoor furniture. While many brands showed designs in this material, they softened it through a choice of rich tones and curved, flowing shapes that encourage relaxation.
